Cobalt Fire began with the restoration of an existing composition of linked pearlescent forms and warm metal—something already complete enough to have remained true to its original form. It changed when cobalt entered the work.

Rather than repeating a single pattern, each hanging element was assembled individually. Vintage cobalt resin, small pearlescent forms, vintage pearls, iridescent accents, pale faceted elements, and found components gather beneath the original structure in graduated lengths. The repetition creates rhythm, but no two passages resolve in quite the same way.

What emerged was a piece held between two polarities: the cool depth of cobalt and the warmth suggested by fire. Neither overtakes the other.

Structure becomes movement. Repetition becomes variation. Something that already existed becomes capable of transformation.

There is one because one happened.
